Ronika Stone – San Diego Mojo
The Mojo middle blocker continued to shine both offensively and defensively in February. She ranked among the best in the nation in several categories, including blocks and kill percentage. In recognition of her excellent play, Stone was selected to represent the Mojo at the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation All-Star Match.
Justin Bailey – San Diego Gulls
The forward had an exciting February on the ice, contributing key goals and assists to help the Gulls close out the month with an eight-game winning streak. Additionally, he tied the AHL record for the fastest goal at the start of a period at just four seconds on a power play against Calgary.
College Stars
Nick Boyd – San Diego State Men’s Basketball
The Aztec basketball phenom was red-hot in February, leading the team in scoring with an average of 13 points per game. His standout performance included a 24-point game in a big win against Boise State.
Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones – UCSD Men’s Basketball
The Triton basketball star helped lead UCSD to a perfect 7-0 record in February, averaging more than 19 points per game. Tait-Jones also reached a career milestone, breaking the 1,000-point mark in a game against Hawaii.
Eiley Tippins – Point Loma Nazarene Women’s Basketball
It was a historic month for the Lady Sea Lions, who went a perfect 6-0 and clinched their first-ever Pac West Conference Championship. Tippins’ offensive contributions were a key part of this success, averaging over 10 points per game. She also shot a perfect 7-7 from the field on the night Point Loma secured the conference title.
Claudia de las Heras – USD Women’s Tennis
The Triton tennis standout was dominant in both singles and doubles play throughout February, winning seven matches, including victories against several Top-25 nationally ranked teams.
High School Stars
Sofia Nunez – Bonita Vista High School Girls’ Soccer
The junior forward for the Lady Barons had a busy month, registering a goal or assist in almost every game during February as the team went undefeated. Her most notable goal came in the CIF Open Division semifinal playoff, where she scored against Torrey Pines to help send Bonita Vista to the CIF championship game.
Aileen Shin – The Bishop’s School Girls’ Water Polo
A key offensive player for the Knights, the junior at Bishop’s led her team in scoring as they secured their historic seventh consecutive CIF San Diego Open Division championship.
JJ Sanchez – Montgomery High Boys’ Basketball
The senior Aztec basketball standout has been one of the most dominant players in the city this season. In February, he led the team in every statistical category except for blocks. His incredible play came at the perfect time, as he averaged more than 20 points per game in the playoffs, helping lead Montgomery to the CIF San Diego Open Division finals.
Santiago Postlethwaite – St. Augustine Boys’ Soccer
A dynamic player for the Saints in February, Postlethwaite scored several game-winning goals, leading the team to a Western League title and securing a spot in the CIF Open Division championship for the third year in a row.

Cesar Cerda – San Diego Sockers
The Sockers’ team captain and defensive dynamo was a key part of this year’s deep playoff run, helping the team reach the MASL Ron Newman Cup. For his outstanding performance, Cerda was named to the All-MASL First Team.
Delphine Cascarino – San Diego Wave FC
The Wave forward delivered an incredible offensive performance, scoring back-to-back goals in the second half of a road win against Racing Louisville. That victory contributed to a 2–1 record for the Wave in April, placing them with the fifth-best record in the NWSL so far this season.
College
Justin Hastings – San Diego State Men’s Golf
The Aztec golfer earned medalist honors at the Mountain West Championship, shooting 18-under-par to help SDSU capture its fourth consecutive conference title. Hastings will finish his college career as one of the most decorated and successful golfers in school history.
Jack Gurevitch – USD Baseball
The Toreros were red hot in April, riding a 10-game win streak to claim first place in the WCC. Gurevitch was a key part of that success, coming up with clutch hits throughout the month. His best stretch included a seven-game hitting streak during which he hit an incredible .538.
Katherine Kim – UCSD Fencing
The freshman had a standout debut at the National Collegiate Fencing Championships, earning Second Team All-American honors after finishing seventh in the women’s foil competition. Kim is the 28th All-American in program history and recorded the third-best finish ever by a Triton female fencer.
Madison Murr – Cal State San Marcos Women’s Golf
The Cougar standout had a phenomenal April, climbing to No. 2 in the NCAA Division II rankings and claiming the top spot in the West Region. Highlights included leading CSUSM to its sixth CCAA tournament title and earning CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Year honors for the second consecutive year.

Elijah Stephens – Sage Creek Baseball
The senior multi-sport athlete showed off his skills on the diamond in April, blasting five home runs to take the lead for most in the county. To top it off, he threw a no-hitter with nine strikeouts for the Bobcats.
Josiah Bowman – Sage Creek Track & Field
The standout runner had impressive performances at two of California’s most prestigious high school track events. He won three races at the Arcadia Invitational and was part of a sixth-place finish in the 4×400 relay at the 65th Annual Mt. SAC Relays.
Anisa Bowen-Fontenot – San Diego High Track & Field
The senior sprinter had a historic month, running the fastest 100m hurdles time in the nation (12.99) at a national invitational relay in Texas. She also clocked a 13.16 at the Arcadia Invitational—California’s premier high school meet. Anisa is committed to USC and was honored at our spring college commit celebration in April.
Natalye Debus – Canyon Hills Softball
The senior pitcher has been on an absolute tear this season, finishing April with 220 strikeouts—the most in the San Diego Section—and a 1.21 ERA against tough opponents. At the plate, she’s added 4 home runs and 15 RBIs to help power her own run support.

CJ dos Santos – San Diego FC
San Diego FC’s goalkeeper CJ dos Santos was a brick wall in goals throughout May, turning in a lights-out performance that included shutouts against Dallas, Colorado, and Austin. His stellar play anchored a five-win month that helped San Diego FC climb to second place in the MLS Western Conference.
Regan Pittman – San Diego Mojo
Middle blocker Regan Pittman powered the San Diego Mojo to a strong close to the regular season with back-to-back wins over Columbus and Indy. Playing in front of packed crowds at Viejas Arena, Pittman led the team in multiple offensive and defensive stat categories in both matches.

Shaquena Foote – SDSU Track & Field
SDSU sprinter Shaquena Foote had a historic month, setting both the SDSU school record and the Mountain West Conference record in the 400m with a time of 50.95. Just a week later, she lowered that time to 50.38, earning a spot in the NCAA Track & Field National Semifinals.
Noah Meffert – PLNU Baseball
Noah Meffert was on fire at the plate in May, leading Point Loma Nazarene University on another NCAA playoff run. His standout moment came in the NCAA West Regional against Northwest Nazarene, where he went 3-for-6 with two home runs and seven RBIs in a big win for the Sea Lions.
Feyi Olukanni – UCSD Track & Field
UC San Diego’s Feyi Olukanni made history in May as part of the first group of Tritons to compete in the NCAA Division I Championships. She earned her spot by winning the Big West Conference title in the discus with a throw of 14.82 meters.
Stian Klaassen – USD Men’s Tennis
Stian Klaassen helped the USD men’s tennis team achieve a major milestone by hosting their first-ever NCAA Tournament match. Klaassen sealed the moment with his 15th singles win of the season, claiming victory in straight sets.

Breck Dunn – Coronado Girls Lacrosse
Breck Dunn was a driving force behind Coronado High School’s girls lacrosse team, which finished the season as CIF champions and nationally ranked by several outlets. Her dynamic play was key to the team’s success all year long.
AJ Curry – University City Baseball
University City’s AJ Curry came up big in the postseason. The hard-throwing, big-hitting junior delivered several clutch hits and started on the mound in the CIF Championship game, helping the Centurions capture their second consecutive CIF baseball title.
Jasir Fontenot – San Diego High School Track
San Diego High freshman Jasir Fontenot made headlines in May by setting the California state record—and the second-fastest time ever nationally—for the boys 100m hurdles. He clocked in at 13.21 seconds at the CIF State Championship meet.
Alexandra Perez – Olympian High School Softball
Alexandra Perez saved her best for last. She capped off a strong month of May by throwing a no-hitter in the CIF Championship game, leading Olympian High School to a title.
