Angelo Posada – Poway high school wrestling
One of the top ranked high school wrestlers in the entire nation he continued his dominant senior year in January with multiple tournament wins.
Jake Hall – Carlsbad high school boys basketball
The sections leading scores this season Hall exploded on the court in January for multiple 30 point games and he led the Lancers to being one of the top 20 teams in the stae.
Brieana Brown – Francis Parker school girls basketball
Only a sophomore she is having a breakout year and is currently leading San Diego and third in the state in 3 pointers this season.
Josie Willis – San Marcos high school girls soccer
She is the leading scorer on the top ranked team in San Diego and one of the most dynamic players in the state this season.

Ronika Stone – San Diego Mojo
The Mojo middle blocker continued to shine both offensively and defensively in February. She ranked among the best in the nation in several categories, including blocks and kill percentage. In recognition of her excellent play, Stone was selected to represent the Mojo at the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation All-Star Match.
Justin Bailey – San Diego Gulls
The forward had an exciting February on the ice, contributing key goals and assists to help the Gulls close out the month with an eight-game winning streak. Additionally, he tied the AHL record for the fastest goal at the start of a period at just four seconds on a power play against Calgary.

Nick Boyd – SDSU Men’s Basketball
The Aztec basketball phenom was red-hot in February, leading the team in scoring with an average of 13 points per game. His standout performance included a 24-point game in a big win against Boise State.
Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones – UCSD Men’s Basketball
The Triton basketball star helped lead UCSD to a perfect 7-0 record in February, averaging more than 19 points per game. Tait-Jones also reached a career milestone, breaking the 1,000-point mark in a game against Hawaii.
Eiley Tippins – PLNU Women’s Basketball
It was a historic month for the Lady Sea Lions, who went a perfect 6-0 and clinched their first-ever Pac West Conference Championship. Tippins’ offensive contributions were a key part of this success, averaging over 10 points per game. She also shot a perfect 7-7 from the field on the night Point Loma secured the conference title.

The Triton tennis standout was dominant in both singles and doubles play throughout February, winning seven matches, including victories against several Top-25 nationally ranked teams.

Sofia Nunez – Bonita Vista High School Girls’ Soccer
The junior forward for the Lady Barons had a busy month, registering a goal or assist in almost every game during February as the team went undefeated. Her most notable goal came in the CIF Open Division semifinal playoff, where she scored against Torrey Pines to help send Bonita Vista to the CIF championship game.
Aileen Shin – The Bishop’s School Girls’ Water Polo
A key offensive player for the Knights, the junior at Bishop’s led her team in scoring as they secured their historic seventh consecutive CIF San Diego Open Division championship.
JJ Sanchez – Montgomery High Boys’ Basketball
The senior Aztec basketball standout has been one of the most dominant players in the city this season. In February, he led the team in every statistical category except for blocks. His incredible play came at the perfect time, as he averaged more than 20 points per game in the playoffs, helping lead Montgomery to the CIF San Diego Open Division finals.
Santiago Postlethwaite – St. Augustine Boys’ Soccer
A dynamic player for the Saints in February, Postlethwaite scored several game-winning goals, leading the team to a Western League title and securing a spot in the CIF Open Division championship for the third year in a row.

The Legion back row player had an electric month for the team as he provided regular scoring highlights in every game in route to helping the Legion end the month with a 5-1 record and tied for first in the Major League Rugby Western Conference

Veronica Sheffley – SDSU women’s basketball
The Aztec standout ended the season as the team’s leading scorer including a career high 24 point outing in a triple OT win against Wyoming to win the Mountain West tournament championship and recieve an NCAA tournament birth. For her excellent play she was chosen as the Mountain West tournament MVP and selected to the all Mountain West team.
Zackry Paulsen – PLNU men’s basketball
The Sea Lion basketball standout was a key contributor to the fantastic season PLNU had on the court as they took home the PacWest Tournament championship and made a run all the way to the D2 Sweet 16. Paulsen was also one of only 18 players nationally to be selected to play in the NABC Division 2 college all star game.
Rasha Badrani – CSUSM women’s track
She won the NCAA Division II National Championship in the 400-meter dash at the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships by tying her program record of 52.92 seconds. She is the first NCAA National Champion in program history and is the second overall CSUSM student-athlete to win one she was also named the NCAA Division II West Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year
Oliver Tarvet – USD men’s tennis
USD Tennis was an outstanding 7-1 in March with Tarvet dominating every time he stepped on the court for singles or doubles, including beating the current top ranked singles tennis player in the nation in the Toreros only team loss of the month.

Morgan Herbst – Carlsbad high school track
Herbst entered the CIF San Diego section record books again as she broke her own record for the 300m hurdles that she had already set last year.
Brandon Arrington – Mount Miguel high school track
The Mount Miguel high school junior set new CIF San Diego records in both the 100m (10:24) and 200m (20:37) sprints to claim the title of fastest high school athlete in San Diego history.
Aubrey Stiritz – Poway high school Softball
In addition to having several great starts at pitcher in March Stiritz achieved what every pitcher dreams of when she threw a perfect game for the Titans, and needed only 40 pitches to do so making it possibly the most efficient game ever thrown in CIF San Diego section history.
Ethan De La Cruz – Oceanside high school baseball
The Pirate power hitter caught fire in March to start the high school baseball season and mashed a section leading 6 home runs, making it one of the most prolific months at the plate that any CIF San Diego section hitter has ever had.

Cesar Cerda – San Diego Sockers
The Sockers’ team captain and defensive dynamo was a key part of this year’s deep playoff run, helping the team reach the MASL Ron Newman Cup. For his outstanding performance, Cerda was named to the All-MASL First Team.
Delphine Cascarino – San Diego Wave FC
The Wave forward delivered an incredible offensive performance, scoring back-to-back goals in the second half of a road win against Racing Louisville. That victory contributed to a 2–1 record for the Wave in April, placing them with the fifth-best record in the NWSL so far this season.

Justin Hastings – SDSU Men’s Golf
The Aztec golfer earned medalist honors at the Mountain West Championship, shooting 18-under-par to help SDSU capture its fourth consecutive conference title. Hastings will finish his college career as one of the most decorated and successful golfers in school history.
Jack Gurevitch – USD Baseball
The Toreros were red hot in April, riding a 10-game win streak to claim first place in the WCC. Gurevitch was a key part of that success, coming up with clutch hits throughout the month. His best stretch included a seven-game hitting streak during which he hit an incredible .538.
Katherine Kim – UCSD Fencing
The freshman had a standout debut at the National Collegiate Fencing Championships, earning Second Team All-American honors after finishing seventh in the women’s foil competition. Kim is the 28th All-American in program history and recorded the third-best finish ever by a Triton female fencer.
Madison Murr – CSUSM Women’s Golf
The Cougar standout had a phenomenal April, climbing to No. 2 in the NCAA Division II rankings and claiming the top spot in the West Region. Highlights included leading CSUSM to its sixth CCAA tournament title and earning CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Year honors for the second consecutive year.

Elijah Stephens – Sage Creek high school Baseball
The senior multi-sport athlete showed off his skills on the diamond in April, blasting five home runs to take the lead for most in the county. To top it off, he threw a no-hitter with nine strikeouts for the Bobcats.
Josiah Bowman – Sage Creek high school Track & Field
The standout runner had impressive performances at two of California’s most prestigious high school track events. He won three races at the Arcadia Invitational and was part of a sixth-place finish in the 4×400 relay at the 65th Annual Mt. SAC Relays.
Anisa Bowen-Fontenot – San Diego high school Track & Field
The senior sprinter had a historic month, running the fastest 100m hurdles time in the nation (12.99) at a national invitational relay in Texas. She also clocked a 13.16 at the Arcadia Invitational—California’s premier high school meet. Anisa is committed to USC and was honored at our spring college commit celebration in April.
Natalye Debus – Canyon Hills high school Softball
The senior pitcher has been on an absolute tear this season, finishing April with 220 strikeouts—the most in the San Diego Section—and a 1.21 ERA against tough opponents. At the plate, she’s added 4 home runs and 15 RBIs to help power her own run support.

CJ dos Santos – San Diego FC
San Diego FC’s goalkeeper CJ dos Santos was a brick wall in goals throughout May, turning in a lights-out performance that included shutouts against Dallas, Colorado, and Austin. His stellar play anchored a five-win month that helped San Diego FC climb to second place in the MLS Western Conference.
Regan Pittman – San Diego Mojo
Middle blocker Regan Pittman powered the San Diego Mojo to a strong close to the regular season with back-to-back wins over Columbus and Indy. Playing in front of packed crowds at Viejas Arena, Pittman led the team in multiple offensive and defensive stat categories in both matches.

Shaquena Foote – SDSU Track & Field
SDSU sprinter Shaquena Foote had a historic month, setting both the SDSU school record and the Mountain West Conference record in the 400m with a time of 50.95. Just a week later, she lowered that time to 50.38, earning a spot in the NCAA Track & Field National Semifinals.
Noah Meffert – PLNU Baseball
Noah Meffert was on fire at the plate in May, leading Point Loma Nazarene University on another NCAA playoff run. His standout moment came in the NCAA West Regional against Northwest Nazarene, where he went 3-for-6 with two home runs and seven RBIs in a big win for the Sea Lions.
Feyi Olukanni – UCSD Track & Field
UC San Diego’s Feyi Olukanni made history in May as part of the first group of Tritons to compete in the NCAA Division I Championships. She earned her spot by winning the Big West Conference title in the discus with a throw of 14.82 meters.
Stian Klaassen – USD Men’s Tennis
Stian Klaassen helped the USD men’s tennis team achieve a major milestone by hosting their first-ever NCAA Tournament match. Klaassen sealed the moment with his 15th singles win of the season, claiming victory in straight sets.

Breck Dunn – Coronado high school Girls Lacrosse
Breck Dunn was a driving force behind Coronado High School’s girls lacrosse team, which finished the season as CIF champions and nationally ranked by several outlets. Her dynamic play was key to the team’s success all year long.
AJ Curry – University City high school Baseball
University City’s AJ Curry came up big in the postseason. The hard-throwing, big-hitting junior delivered several clutch hits and started on the mound in the CIF Championship game, helping the Centurions capture their second consecutive CIF baseball title.
Jasir Fontenot – San Diego high school Track
San Diego High freshman Jasir Fontenot made headlines in May by setting the California state record—and the second-fastest time ever nationally—for the boys 100m hurdles. He clocked in at 13.21 seconds at the CIF State Championship meet.
Alexandra Perez – Olympian high school Softball
Alexandra Perez saved her best for last. She capped off a strong month of May by throwing a no-hitter in the CIF Championship game, leading Olympian High School to a title.

The team captain closed out the regular season with a stellar offensive night has he scored in the 17th minute, 75th minute and 78th minute to help lead the Legion to an exciting 50-5 win over Old Glory DC
Maria Sanchez – San Diego Wave FC
The Wave forward scored the key goal in a 3-2 win for San Diego against the Houston Dash to help the club stay in 3rd place in the entire NWSL.

Kalathan Laiwa-McKay – CSUSM men’s track & field
He finished 6th in the NCAA D2 National championship for shot put and earned USTFCCCA All-America first-team as well as All West Region honors
Kevork Tchakmakjian – UCSD men’s 8 rowing
The Triton rower was stroke for the team as they competed at the IRA national championship finishing 23rd nationally. The boat improved its race times as the regatta progressed, culminating in a 5:46.64 in the race finals.
Madison Murr – CSUSM women’s golf
She won the 2025 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Individual National Championship with a 14-under 202 (69-64-69), becoming the program’s second national champion in team history. The redshirt senior was named the NCAA Division II PING Co-Player of the Year by the WGCA and was named to the WGCA All-America first team and the All-West Region team
Amari Jenkins – UCSD women’s track and field
After running a career-best 58.21 at The Big West Championships, Jenkins qualified for the first round of the NCAA Track & Field Championships. At that meet in Texas, Jenkins ran the second-fastest time of her career, coming home in 59.47.

Brady Strachan – Rancho Bernardo high school baseball
The Bronco junior stayed red hot to end the 2025 season as he knocked in a game winning RBI to help lead Rancho Bernardo to a CIF State Regional championship. He was also honored by the SDSA with a selection to first team All CIF.
Jayden Parker – University City high school baseball
The Centurion shortstop closed out the season on a high note as the junior was one of the best hitters on the team as he helped lead UC to a CIF State Regional championship.
Annika Isaacson – Point Loma high school softball
The senior Pointer came up with several clutch hits for Point Loma as they finished off their amazing run this season with a CIF Southern Section Regional championship. She was also honored by the SDSA with a selection to first team All CIF.
Arri Romero – Mater Dei Catholic high school softball
The Crusader sophomore continued her dominant year of pitching as she tallied a win in the CIF State Semifinals to help send Mater Dei Catholic to the title game they would later win. She was also honored by the SDSA with a selection to first team All CIF and was chosen as the section pitcher the year.

Hirving Lozano – San Diego FC
Hirving Lozano had a dynamic July, scoring in multiple matches. His highlight moment came with a game-winning goal in a 1–0 victory at Nashville, helping SDFC take first place in the MLS Western Conference standings.
Adrián Morejón – San Diego Padres
July was a special month in an already impressive season for Adrián Morejón. He earned the honor of representing the Padres in the MLB All-Star Game, showcasing his talent on baseball’s biggest stage.
Manny Machado – San Diego Padres
Padres third baseman Manny Machado made history on July 7th at Petco Park, recording his 2,000th career hit. He was also selected to his 7th All-Star Game, where he started at third base — a testament to his enduring excellence.
Nate Davis – San Diego Strike Force
Quarterback Nate Davis delivered clutch performances throughout the month, including a standout night with three touchdown passes in a thrilling 46–24 win over the Arizona Rattlers at Frontwave Arena.
August Holmgren – USD Men’s Tennis
USD Torero alumni August Holmgren had a breakthrough at Wimbledon, winning three qualifying matches to reach the Grand Slam main draw. He followed up with two more wins before falling to the tournament’s 11th-ranked player — a major milestone in his rising career.

The Eagles quarterback set a new school record for single-game passing with 466 yards in Granite Hills’ season opener.
Trey Arnold – Mission Bay high school football
The Buccaneers quarterback finished August leading the entire CIF San Diego Section in passing, with 844 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Jaelyn Williams – Eastlake high school Cross Country
The Titan runner won the prestigious CCA Raven Invite by less than a second, posting a PR of 16:03.10.
Lola Conway – Bishop’s field hockey
Last year’s CIF Player of the Year picked up right where she left off, leading the Bishop’s Knights to a perfect 4–0 record with a dominant performance throughout August.

The fireballing reliever continued to dominate on the mound, posting some of the best numbers in all of baseball and helping the Padres reach the postseason. For his outstanding performance, Mason was named the National League Reliever of the Month for September.

Savannah scored the Wave’s only goal in a 1-1 draw against the Portland Thorns, as San Diego continued its push for NWSL playoff seeding.

The Tigers’ senior playmaker capped off an incredible regular season by scoring multiple touchdowns in every playoff game in November, leading Morse to a CIF San Diego Section championship.
Azul Trujillo – Vincent Memorial High School Girls’ Flag Football
Trujillo made national history in November by setting the national single-season passing record for high school girls’ flag football, finishing her sophomore year with 9,503 passing yards.
